New Moon Pole Gathering for Friday April 20, 2012

Another month has nearly passed since the last New Moon in Aries where we were all able to delve into our Aries "warlike" and assertive side. Did you have fun? Its really nice to be able to think only of the self occasionally. After all, our primary partner in life truly is "the self". Without a good connection with ourselves we can't truly connect with others, which was the lesson of the Aries and Libra Full Moon. But now we're moving into the next big adventure... Taurus. I know I shouldn't play favorites, but if truth be told, this is my absolute favorite sign. Don't hold it against me, my natal Mars and Venus are located there. Just don't tell the others!

In the wee small hours of the morning on April 21st there will occur a New Moon in Taurus at 1 degree! The Sun will have JUST moved into Taurus from Aries on the 20th. The Sun will be going through a great transition and it will be ushered in to it's new role by his ever faithful companion, The Moon. When the Sun and Moon, and any of the other planets for that matter, change from one sign to another it's as if they are actors donning new costumes and characters. While they might have been wearing biker gear or sports wear in Aries to keep up with their fast pace lifestyle, in Taurus they now have the opportunity to slow down and try on their comfiest, most luxurious fabrics.

The role of Taurus for the following month will be one that is more stable, steady and secure. They are "Ferdinand the Bull" sitting in the shade of their most favorite tree smelling the flowers. Honestly, Taurus is most comfortable outside, feeling the dirt beneath their feet, although you will find them very often frequenting art galleries, museums, or the symphony, looking for one more piece to obtain and add to their collection. Their phrase is "I own", and sometimes "I have" depending on the source. However, ownership is about a whole lot more than than money (though Taurus loves money!) Ownership is also about owning oneself. Lets look at it in relationship to the great circle of life...

A new baby is born and begins to discover who they are (Aries) and their role in the world. Once they understand that, they are able to move on to what they have. Exploration begins with the body. They find their hand, they put it in their mouth. They find their toes, they put it in their mouth. They find their belly button, they try to put in in their mouth, they don't succeed, so they find something else to put in their mouth- maybe a flower, or some grass they find off the ground. Everything is so new to them, the baby wants to use every sense that they have to figure out who they are and what is actually theirs. This is Taurus. Taurus's senses are extremely important to them. If they can touch it, taste it, smell it, hear it, or feel it they want it. It's theirs. This is what we have to learn during this New Moon. We need to reconnect to our senses in order to fully understand what "we own", ourselves. Then everything else that you own will come into place. Before you can have the big house, car, and a million dollars, you have to start with the only thing that you will always have no matter what happens in life, yourself.

So that's what I want to explore this New Moon in Taurus. I want to play with the senses in order to connect to our most basic physical selves. Since we'll be right at the very start of the Sun in Taurus we'll be able to carry this with us through the rest of the month. During our playtime we'll be getting on the floor, rolling around in things we can touch, and doing a bit of lap dancing. For those of you who have never done it before, don't worry, it will probably just be "chair dancing". A lap in not needed at all, though the person in the chair does get a terrific massage! Also for the newbies, I can not let a class go by without doing at least a few spins and moves on the pole, so don't worry, we'll get that in too.

Bring music, props and costumes that embody Taurus. If you don't have anything, don't worry, I can provide. Here are some ideas for from my Zodiac Pole that will hopefully get your creativity flowing.

"Taurus- tactile and stable. Innately sensual. Slow. "Rooted in the senses."
Possible Props and Costumes- Satin, Velvet, Scarves, any thing tactile. Barefoot to feel the floor.
Music- Luscious music that tickles the skin and reverbs through the body. Music that explores the senses. Orchestral pieces. Folk songs/ Country. Songs about money.
